Our allergy department is staffed with five certified allergy technicians with combined experience of over 70 years. We have physicians who are not only board certified in the evaluation and management of otolaryngic (ear, nose and throat) allergies, but also have advanced training in the treatment of allergies. We are experienced in performing allergy skin testing and spirometry (asthma screening) for the evaluation of our patient’s environmental allergies. Testing for food allergies and dietary counseling is also available. After a patient’s allergies are determined, our allergy staff, supervised by our physicians, will recommend the best alternatives for relieving your symptoms, controlling your allergies, and improving your quality of life. Treatments may include recommendations regarding environmental controls and avoidance measures, medications, and/or allergy immunotherapy (allergy injections or sublingual drops).
Based on allergy testing results, our allergy technicians custom-mix each patient’s allergy serum in-house in our Sewickley office. This serum is used to administer each patient’s allergy injections weekly. Sublingual therapy (self administered drops under the tongue) is also available in selected cases. Allergy testing is performed at our Beaver and Sewickley offices and allergy injections can be administered at our Beaver, Sewickley, Ohio Valley, Robinson and Cranberry Township offices. Evening office hours for allergy injections are available at our Sewickley office for our patients’ convenience. Once patients have reached their maintenance dose, allergy injections may be administered out of our office.
Our experience and interest in this area of medicine has allowed us to successfully treat allergies in both adults and most children four years of age and older.

In addition to hearing issues, Doctors Froman, Orsini, Rago and McElwain diagnose and treat vestibular (dizziness/vertigo) diseases. Vestibular testing is performed in the Sewickley office by a specially trained technician. The tests are interpreted by an audiologist with appropriate recommendations made by our physicians. Many patients are treated immediately if they are diagnosed with BPPV (benign paroxysmal positional vertigo) and are able to leave the office with instant relief of their dizziness following the performance of a “particle repositioning maneuver”. For further information regarding evaluation of vestibular disorders, please call (412) 741-2122 to schedule an evaluation and referral for vestibular testing after being evaluated by Doctors Froman, Orsini, Rago and McElwain.
